A social-emotional focused childhood program that offers real-life and academic skill development within a farm and garden setting.
A lifelong learner, educator, craftsman, and homesteader, Vince (husband, and father of three) brings an unusually diverse range of life and professional experiences to the art of education. His work is grounded in the belief that meaningful learning happens not only in books and classrooms, but also through relationships, responsibility, practical work, nature, and participation in community.
His educational journey began through AmeriCorps literacy work, where he developed a passion for helping learners discover confidence, curiosity, and the power of language. His experience in early childhood education and counseling further shaped his understanding of the whole person, teaching him to recognize that intellectual growth is deeply connected to emotional, social, and relational well-being.
His background extends well beyond traditional education. His geological studies at Western Washington University and assistant teaching of field camp cultivated a deep appreciation for the natural world and for learning through direct observation and hands-on exploration. Work involving water well drilling and surface mining gave him practical insight into earth systems, resources, and the relationship between human communities and the land.
Over the years, he has also worked in farming, construction materials testing, carpentry, and building trades, developing a broad understanding of how things are grown, designed, measured, built, repaired, and maintained. His experience as a sous chef added another dimension to his practical education, reinforcing the importance of food, preparation, teamwork, creativity, and stewardship.
Today, these seemingly diverse experiences come together naturally in a holistic homestead setting. Here, education is understood as an integrated process: children and adults learn by tending gardens, caring for animals, preparing food, working with tools, building useful structures, observing geology and ecology, solving real problems, reading, communicating, and contributing to the life of a community.
His approach to education emphasizes head, heart, and hands—developing knowledge and critical thinking while nurturing character, emotional awareness, practical competence, creativity, and a sense of responsibility. Rather than separating academic learning from everyday life, he seeks to make the world itself a classroom.
With experience ranging from literacy and counseling to geology, agriculture, construction, culinary arts, and skilled craftsmanship, Vince offers learners a unique model of education rooted in curiosity, resilience, self-reliance, and service. His goal is not simply to teach information, but to help people become capable, thoughtful, grounded individuals who understand their place within their families, communities, and the natural world.
