Mulberry Creek Book Club / 6-8yrs

This class is co-taught by Jenny Hahn and Priya Swensen. Jenny is a homeschool mom to 6 kids and teens, and is passionate about inspiring a love of reading and storytelling. She has extensive experience in teaching book clubs and exposing homeschool students to literature. Priya is a mom of three, with a Masters of Arts in English and a love for teaching.

In this book club themed class, kids will listen to stories read aloud, engage in vibrant discussion, and celebrate each completed book. The younger group will engage in age-appropriate follow-up activities with Priya to enrich their reading experience.

This class will intermingle with the book club taught by Jenny Hahn, so that young and experienced readers alike can benefit from each other’s experiences and perspectives.

The teachers will choose books from timeless classics to modern greats from a variety of cultures and genre.

Book examples include:

Charlotte’s Web, Little House in the Big Woods, Pippi Longstocking, Winnie-the-Pooh, The Wild Robot, Anne of Green Gables, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, 100 Cupboards, Cece Rios and the Desert of Souls, The Underneath, The Eyes and the Impossible, and more.

In this class, kids will:
