Volunteer With Us

Learn and Grow With Us!

What we are aiming to create for the community is much bigger than us, and we need support. Teens and adults are welcome to join our volunteer committees. There are many options to get involved, depending on your interest. Take a look below, and reach out with any questions!

Volunteer Teams

Education Team
The Education Team provides support for our teachers, to enrich the learning opportunities at Compass. We need occasional support with the more complex lesson plans that may require additional helping hands or eyes. We also love to invite parents to teach one-off classes, or recurring classes, including baking, woodworking, art, foraging, history, cultural topics, etc. This team also helps with short-term projects like finishing our Word Garden, or field trip chaperoning.

Care Team
The Care Team addresses the emotional/social needs of our community, including sending cards and care packages when a teacher or child is going through a tough time.

Fundraiser Team
We host an annual fundraising party the weekend before Thanksgiving, and a Garden-to-Table Fundraiser Dinner in August. We appreciate the support with organizing food, decorations, inviting the community, and gathering donations for our raffles and silent auctions.

Homestead Team
The House and Kitchen Team helps to harvest and utilize all of the food we are growing! Sure, the kids are helping with this weekly, but there is so much to pick and process and we don’t want to waste anything. We also need help cooking, pre mixing baking ingredients and keeping the kitchen and house organized.

Land Stewardship Team
This team helps with the care of the yard, garden and land we are on. Our hope is to improve the health of the ecosystem that we call home here at The Compass Center Foundation. Growing native plants to feed pollinators, composting and rebuilding soil health, and nourishing the biodiversity are all goals of this volunteer team. Activities that we need help with include garden planning, planting, weeding. We need help with maintaining the health of our compost operation, and teaching the kids about soil cycles. We also want to make sure we understand the biodiversity around us, so identification of the flora and fauna on the farm are part of this team’s role. There will be interaction with the kids and plenty of opportunity to make big shifts in how we are helping to not only conserve, but improve the health of this farmland and ecosystem.
