A social-emotional focused childhood program that offers real-life and academic skill development within a farm and garden setting.
Immersed in farm and garden life, children will be given the space for self discovery and learning within a consistent weekly rhythm. We use a Waldorf-inspired curriculum, and follow a Reggio Emilia approach of following the children’s interests. This is an outdoor program with farmhouse learning spaces for harsh weather days. Organic lunch and snacks are provided. You may choose a custom weekly schedule as available.
Our mission at The Compass Center Foundation is to create and execute a childhood education experience that prioritizes of the emotional, physical and mental well-being of children and allows each child to learn through the lens of their own unique passions.
We provide lunch and snacks for the children. This means you don’t need to pack a lunch box! How we eat plays a huge role in our moods, energy levels and overall health. Integrative nutrition and self care are important aspects of our curriculum, so it comes naturally that we want to provide nourishing meals during the program as part of the overall learning experience.
Our menu prioritizes nutrient dense, pasture raised, organic and local foods. Lunch will usually consist of a warm soup, casseroles, tacos and spaghetti in colder months, or sandwiches, cold cuts and pasta salads in summertime, plus steamed vegetables, olives, homemade sourdough, crackers, and fresh fruit. Snacks are generally fresh fruit and vegetables, a protein (sausage, hard boiled eggs, salami, etc.) and something baked (or other carbohydrate like sorghum pretzels).
When we purchase snacks instead of making them homemade, we buy organic, paleo and/or gluten free brands. We also try to incorporate raw, fermented foods like kefir, kombucha and sauerkraut whenever we can. We value whole foods with minimal refined sugars, flours and oils.
Our rates are inclusive of food, learning materials and supplies. The following amounts are for the 2026-2027 session, from September 7, 2026 through June 11, 2027. The annual total can be paid in full or broken down into a deposit and monthly payments from September through March.
If you are breaking your payment up, your deposit is due to reserve a set schedule, and the remaining payment is due on a monthly schedule. Click here for the full breakdown of the payment schedules and the tuition agreement.
We want your child to enjoy their time with us, and being warm and dry while we explore outdoors is essential to a positive experience! It is important to get into the habit of checking the weather as you help your child dress for the day. Please arrive for outdoor weather, we will help them adjust layers as the day progresses.
In addition to their backpack with water bottle, please make sure they wear the following clothing and gear each day that they join us:
The Sprouts Program is located outdoors on a farmstead and in a wildlife garden. Children need to dress appropriately! We will utilize a heated discovery space for warming up or staying dry on harsh weather days. You may choose a custom weekly schedule as available.
We offer a 9:00am – 3:00pm weekday program as well as an afternoon garden program from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
This is not a licensed childcare program. This is a mom’s day out nanny share for families who are on staff or part of our volunteer team. The volunteer requirements are that you are on a volunteer team and serve at least 2 hours per month. At this time, because of our free-range space, we cannot accommodate students with special needs, unless they are accompanied by a parent or professional aid.
Every morning our teachers and kids speak aloud the Five to Thrive “rules” at Compass Academy. After we read them aloud, we pick one to go into a little bit more detail.
We are now enrolling for the 2026-2027 school year. Please take a look at the following links for more information and to apply.
