Tory Maupin-Siler

Administrative Director of The Compass Center and Substitute Educator for Compass Academy

About Tory

Tory is a devoted mother, wife of a first responder, homeschool teacher, and passionate advocate for people, nature, and health. She and her family are living out their dream of building a homestead and embracing a simple, intentional life in the heart of the Central Virginia mountains—where she was born and raised.

Tory holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mary Baldwin University and served in the United States Air Force Reserves during her college years. She is certified in CPR and Wilderness First Aid, reflecting her commitment to safety and preparedness.

Professionally, Tory brings a diverse background in both higher education and the medical field, with experience ranging from administration to direct patient care. Her medical work focused primarily on pediatrics, mental health, and specialty inpatient care, consistently fueled by her deep-rooted desire to serve others.

Since becoming a mother, Tory’s passion for children and education has only deepened. As a homeschooling parent, she emphasizes experiential learning and the connection between education and the natural world. For her, “school” might look like a hike through the woods, planting a garden, caring for animals, splitting wood, or tending to elderly family members—all opportunities to instill practical life skills and nurture curiosity, independence, and compassion.

Tory joined our Compass Academy team over the summer as a substitute teacher during our Summer Camp on the Farm program. Her impact was immediate and invaluable, and we’re thrilled to have her step into the role of Administrative Director. With her leadership, heart for service, and dedication to holistic, child-centered education, Tory is helping guide our continued growth and our shared mission to empower today’s children
