Molly has always had a love for children and the outdoors. Between homeschooling her own kids and working at various school and daycare centers, Molly has dedicated the last 22 years to working with children in nature.
Before children, Molly pursued a Bachelor’s of Environmental Science with a specialization in Education at the University of Virginia. She and her husband Chris studied outdoor survival skills including wild edible plants, and now regularly hike together as a family. She worked at University Montessori School and as a nanny for four years before opening her own daycare 18 years ago. Molly has “graduated” over 30 children through her doors. In her daycare, she incorporated daily adventures to local meadows, woods, and parks to appreciate the wondrous outdoor world.
Molly homeschooled all three of her children. She placed a strong emphasis on play and child-led learning in their earlier years, later incorporating different learning modalities including unit studies and Classical Conversations. Together they read thousands of books.
She has also taught art, science, and writing classes at local homeschool co-ops. As a book-binder and ceramic artist, Molly loves creating arts and crafts with children. Along with teaching, her true passion is in helping children recognize and appreciate their unique and innate abilities and gifts that they bring to the world.
